Why did we choose to represent the 101st airborne?

Although the 101st Airborne is probably the most commonly represented group of men from World War 2 in reenactments, we chose to do this for a different reason other than the fact that the Band of Brothers is our favorite show. As opposed to being "Easy Company" we represent "Dog Company" the company who, for the most part was under the leadership of Lt. Ronald Spiers. Darien Schriver (the Sgt. in our squad) has a special connection to the 101st. His great uncle was in the 101st Airborne, 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 2nd Battalion, Dog Company in World War 2. This man was captured overseas in a basement in France and was a prisoner of war for quite a while. Darien's uncle, just like many of the men from the Greatest Generation was not very open to his experience in the war. Little is known of what all happened in his eyes. The more reenactments we do, the more we learn just what the men of different groups truly did 60+ years ago. By doing a 101st Airborne impression, Darien can get a picture of what his uncle went through, even though he never told any war stories and has passed away. That is why we represent the men from the 101st Airborne.
